Goose Turds, Deer Crap, & Your Internet Biz

Ever notice how the exact same thing can elicit a completely different response depending on the situation? For example, my office is right next to a park, and I truly enjoy watching the geese floating in the ponds and the deer that come to feed on the berries that drop from the trees (not sure what they are but the deer just love them).

Yet I hate these same geese when they're on the greens at the golf course and leave a trail of "turds" all over the place. It really is true, nothing moves faster than grass through a goose. Also, nothing scares the "turds" out of you more than a deer in the middle of the road as you come around the bend at dusk or dawn.

Same geese, same deer, but a completely different feeling about them.

This concept is the same in business and work.

We all know going to work each day can be a real drag. It's really no wonder that most people hate Mondays and celebrate Fridays!

We are also smart enough to know that even running your own business requires many of the exact same skills and activities you're doing right now today while at work, and the dollars you earn still have good ol' George Washington on them. Yet for some reason, the work is far more fun and the dollars are far more rewarding when it's your own business. That is, when you're building your own business empire and not simply busting your butt so someone else can golf at their country club.

But Where Do You Start?

Most people believe they need to "start" with a website, but this is wrong and dangerous thinking because a website is absolutely worthless unless you can do one fundamental thing.

Sincerely,

Justin

P.S. Whether you're just starting or already a 'season veteran', if you are not doing this one thing, then your days are numbered.

Legitimate Money Making Idea: Blogging

Blogging started out as a way for people to connect to others and share pictures, stories and experiences. It was considered a personal journal one could use to leave his or her mark on the internet.

Since then blogs have evolved as excellent Marketing Tools as well as media to make money. There are a few ways to earn income from blogging. Here are a few:

Adsense ads

Popular search engines such as Google offer a way to earn a little extra money with any blog or website. The idea is to place these ads on your site, and when a visitor clicks on an ad from your site, you earn a pre-determined amount of money. The more clicks you can get from your site visitors, the more you can make. However, there are some strict rules involved, so if you choose to go this route, be sure to learn what not to do before signing up for their programs.

Product Reviews

There are some websites you can sign up with to help you connect with other companies who need people to review their products and get them some exposure on your blogs. Usually the main requirement for this is to have a blog that’s been around for awhile and has a fair amount of traffic. Those companies would pay you a specified amount to review their product on your blog.

Contextual Links

Some business or website owners will pay a blogger to post one of their links within their blog posts. It may be the owners themselves contacting the blog author or a company that acts as an intermediary. Those businesses will find blogs that are similar to their companies’ sites, so the links provided on the blogs will be search engine friendly. This is a great way to earn some extra traffic for your site.

Sell products

Blogs are another way from where you can sell your own products. Those who have businesses selling home décor items or food container items often use blogs to help sell their products and make more money online.

With these ideas for making money through blogging, what will you need to make your blogging experience worthwhile?

What skills would be helpful?

There isn’t much skill involved in this type of business except the ability to market your blog. You would want to research blogging as much as possible to learn some of the tricks of the trade to make your blog popular.

What Tools would be needed?

Your main tool, besides a computer with an internet connection, would be a blog. There are many blogging programs out there to choose from. Some are free to set up while others require a monthly or annual fee to get started.

Paid blogging programs can help you connect with other blogs and increase your blog’s traffic. The free versions are extremely easy to set up, and most are extremely popular amongst bloggers. Therefore, finding people to connect with wouldn’t be too hard to do.

How to get started

Sign up with a blogging program and start posting entries to it. Make sure you are blogging on a regular basis, which would be about 2 times a week. Blogs that aren’t updated regularly tend to get lost in cyberspace.

Market your blog as much as possible. Get listed on blog directories, such as Technorati. Also, get on other people’s blog rolls and comment on other blog author’s posts to get some exposure to your blog. You should also ping your blog each time you make a post; use Pingomatic to do this. The more traffic you drive to your blog, the higher your chance of making blogging a lucrative way to make money.

Most of the blogging programs will have a sign up for adsense ads already included in their set up feature, so getting started with that will be easy. Blogger allows you to plug in your Amazon affiliate id. If you want to provide product reviews and contextual links, you will want to blog for a period of time to get a fair amount of traffic coming to it.

When your blog is ready, find the companies that will help you connect with businesses that will want to pay to have their products reviewed or have their links embedded with your blog post entries. Once that is set up, you can start earning some extra income with your blog.

Blogging is an easy way to earn some extra cash if you plan to work hard marketing it. Those successful at blogging for money use every route possible to get their blog well known in the internet communities and the search engines. The ones that do not tend to earn only a few cents a week, if even that.

So become one of the more successful bloggers and make your blog your business instead of just a hobby to partake in once in awhile. Your pocketbook will thank you for it.

Make Money Selling Information Products

The internet is a great place to sell your knowledge and expertise. Many people will pay almost anything to get information they are desperately looking for, so if you have the knowledge that they want, you could earn a substantial income.

Information products come in many forms. They could be any one of the following:

  • Ebooks

  • E-Courses

  • Tutorials

  • Guides

  • Podcasts

These popular information products are well sought after by internet users all over. If you have something to say, this could be the business for you.

What skills are helpful?

You should know about the topic that you’re going to present to your consumers. It is not necessary to have a doctorate degree or of any kind of degree to do this, but having a considerable amount of knowledge in the field would be helpful.

Also, the ability to market your materials will be helpful. The more people you reach with your products, the more people who may want to buy from you.

What Tools will be needed?

The tools you need will depend on what you plan to provide. E-Books and Guides can be written on word processing software and then converted to a PDF document. PDF documents are the most popular type of documents.

Auto responder programs are needed for creating successful e-courses. Podcasts would need audio recording and editing software. Tutorials can be done a variety of ways. You can use Power Point presentations to present your material, or you could use video tutorial software. Video tutorials are great for showing users how to use a specific program step by step.

Websites and blogs are also necessary for promoting your information products.

How to get started

You will need to decide on a topic for your product. What area do you have the most knowledge about that you could provide your potential consumers? When you know what you want to provide, research that topic to see if you can find a new and unique angle to present it.

Since there are lots of ebooks, tutorials, etc. on the internet for sale, you will need to find something new to give to your customers. They will not be as willing to hand over their money if they don’t think you have something new and unique to give them.

Write out or record your information product and edit it to your satisfaction. Once you have it the way you want it, you can start selling it. Create a blog or website to sell it from and make sure the site’s web copy content grabs internet user’s attention so they can purchase what you are offering.

Hire a copywriter if you can afford one to write the copy to promote those materials. Your copywriter can write content in a way that makes your product so desirable that anyone would want to purchase it.

Creating information products does not cost a lot, but you can sell them for a nice profit. This is an excellent way to earn income online while maintaining a flexible schedule which allows you to spend more time with your family.

Planning a Pool Party: How to Prepare

Each year, many people search for the perfect party idea. If you have a pool in your backyard, you might already have what you need for the perfect party -- a pool. Pool parties are nice because not only do they allow you to socialize with those that you know, but they also give everyone a way to cool off. If you are considering hosting a pool party, you will need to plan. Despite what you may think, there is actually a lot of planning involved in hosting a pool party.

Perhaps, the first step in planning a pool party is to let everyone know that you are having one. Although pool parties may not be like birthday parties or Christmas parties, you may still want to send out invitations. These invitations, if you choose to send them, do not have to be elaborate. In fact, since your pool party will most likely be casual, your invitations should be as well. If invitations are not your style, you may want to phone your friends or send them an email inviting them to your pool party.

Once you let your guests know you are planning a pool party, you can start preparing for the party. While it is not always important, you may want to consider confirming with guests whether or not they will be able to attend. Having an accurate guest count will help you better prepare for your party. In fact, a guest count will enable you to determine how much food, drinks, or snacks will need.

If you plan on including a barbeque, you will need to decide what type of food you would like to serve. Like any other special occasion, you may want to have a wide variety of food. This will ensure that there will be at least one thing on the menu that each guest will enjoy. In addition to main course, you will also want to include side dishes. These side dishes commonly include fruits, vegetables, and salads.

After you decide which foods you would like to serve at your barbeque, you will also need to think about making them. Even if your party isn’t for a few weeks, you will still want to develop a cooking schedule ahead of time. Although your main courses, such as barbequed meat, will be prepared the day of your pool party, you may want to prepare everything else earlier that day or the day before. This will help to ensure not only that you get all of the food prepared on time, but that you are also able to enjoy your own party.

Although I previously mentioned including a barbeque with your pool party, it is not required that you actually do so. However, if you plan on having a pool party without involving a meal, you may still want to have snacks and drinks on hand. Non-alcoholic drinks and most snack foods can be purchased for a reasonable price. Also, alcoholic drinks make for a great party, but some drinks can be expensive to purchase, especially in large quantities.

Aside from the food and entertainment, you will also want to make sure you have a number of pool supplies and accessories on hand. These items may include, but should not be limited to, beach balls, lifejackets, floaties, swim rings, floating chairs, and other popular swim toys. If you do not already have a large collection of swim toys, many pool toys, such as swim rings, floaties, and beach balls, can be purchased for a reasonable price. In fact, many of these items only cost around two or three dollars. It is also a good idea to have extra towels on hand, just in case any of your guests forget to bring their own.

Although pool parties are designed to be fun, you may want to establish some pool rules ahead of time. These rules will help keep your pool and your pool party guests safe, especially young children. Whether you are planning a simple pool party or an elaborate one, it is likely that you will be happy with your decision to plan your party ahead of time.

Hot & Steamy...the dirty little secret

Got this email from my friend Dani...

Hi Justin

Hot and sweltering outside...that can mean only one thing...vacation!

And this translates into one thing for internet marketers as well...slow sales.

So what do you do if you're looking for an online gig and it's the middle of summer?

You have 2 choices:

1. Wait and/or prepare for fall.

2. Something that works in summer.

The key is to have a 2nd income stream that is NOT dependent upon online sales in the summer because you just will not find as many opportunities.

People are at the pool, they're camping, they're taking vacations...and while they're doing that, they're not buying your stuff.

But what never stops?

Rain or shine the markets never stop. So if you're looking for a 2nd stream, or a new stream, or whatever...

...take a look at something that does not care what season it is because it does not need customers (or selling of any sort).

How to Stop Paying Cable Bills

Want to know how you can get thousands of TV channels on your PC without having to pay another monthly bill?

With today’s rocky economic climate, many households are cutting back on whatever they can, and with the cost of cable and satellite television being anywhere from $65- $150 a month (a lot more if you count premium movie channels), the first thing many people are axing in their homes are their television sets. Some of us, like me, are even doing without cable or satellite and are sticking to whatever's on broadcast television. Is there a way to enjoy thousands of television channels, including hard to find international shows and sports programming, and never pay another monthly cable bill again?

Welcome to Satellite Direct -- the future of television.

With no subscription services or monthly bills, no hardware to install, and 24/7 unlimited access, it is no wonder why Internet Media Magazine hailed Satellite Direct as “unequivocally the best TV to PC software on the net”? There are tons of so-called “Great Deals” on satellite television service for your PC that they just end up giving you limited access to channels, not to mention dozens of hidden fees that just end up costing you more than your current cable service.

So for less than the price of one month’s subscription to a cable or satellite service, you can enjoy a lifetime of television -- over 3,500 channels! -- from the convenience of your laptop or desktop. This without all the hassles of waiting for installation, or hours on hold with the cable company. Installing Satellite Direct is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

So what is required to get started?

1. Register -- Answer a few simple questions, and their easy registration system will process your ONE TIME payment. That’s right, no monthly bills -- ever.

2. Download -- Follow the easy, on screen instructions to download the software. There's no hardware to install AND no equipment to buy.

3. Watch and Enjoy -- Sit back and enjoy thousands of television channels, from soaps and sports, to movies and dramas, any time, day or night.

Plus, with a crystal clear picture and sound quality, exceptional customer service, and a lifetime of television for less than you’d pay for just one month of cable service, Satellite Direct is the best way to get the most for your TV dollar.

This is great if you do not have cable, or just don't want to pay those high cable bills ever again.
